On Friday, November 29th, the City of London pulsed with the eclectic sub-bass of Afro House as Sondela Recordings took over The Steel Yard in London for a night of deep grooves and uplifting energy. I was invited down by the promoters to perform a supporting live video design to backdrop their night using Resolume and a selection of effects and layers, realtime processes and content generated by Visual Zuu and some additional content packs.
Featuring an electrifying lineup of Lemon & Herb, Dlala Thukzin, Louis Dunmore & Cleido, the event was a masterclass in Afro House excellence, blending percussive beats with soulful melodies to create an unforgettable experience.
Enhancing the sonic journey was a meticulously curated lighting production that elevated the night’s energy. The setup featured two video slices and a large 16:9 upstage screen, immersing the audience in a dynamic visual landscape. This visual synergy was brought to life through content designed by fellow Visual Zuu team members Jordan and Ben, whose creative direction perfectly complemented the spirit of Afro house.
The video design worked seamlessly with the lighting setup, enhancing the mood and amplifying the energy of each performance. Carefully timed visuals responded to shifts in lighting, creating moments where the two elements merged to heighten key transitions in the music.
Pulsing patterns and color schemes blended with the stage illumination, ensuring the audience experienced a fully cohesive audiovisual spectacle. The result was an immersive atmosphere that felt organic, constantly evolving in harmony with the music.”

To add an extra layer of depth to the visuals, I integrated a Birddog P400 4K camera, feeding real-time footage into the visuals. This approach added a raw, organic dimension to the set, bringing the performers and crowd into the visual storytelling. The result was a seamless blend of motion, light, and music, creating a space where the visuals encapsulated the sound whilst complementing the lighting design.
It was more than just a club show; it was a musical expression of bass and soul — a celebration of Afro House and its power to unite, uplift, and inspire. Sondela Recordings at Steelyard was a night where music and community combined, creating a truly immersive atmosphere that was the perfect event to perform behind.
