On Friday 20th February 2026 we delivered a sold-out show at HERE (Outernet) for Friction and team. The brief was clear from the outset: a tightly controlled, fully timecoded production that supported a top tier drum and bass set without relying on improvised visuals or busked show, instead clearly defined structure and moments to compliment the artist’s set.
The show was built and designed by Olly Bennet from Visual Zuu, featuring 8 timecoded video tracks running from Resolume Arena using LTC via SMPTE, mapped across the venue’s 6K LED screen and driven directly from the Pioneer CDJs using ShowKontrol. Each track was designed to serve a specific role in the set, from lip synced vocal led content featuring Emily Makis during rolling sections to higher-impact textual sequences for key transitions and peaks. The intent was consistency and precision rather than constant visual escalation.
Alongside the video, we ran 6 fully timecoded laser tracks, integrated into the same timeline. This allowed lasers to be treated as part of the composition rather than an overlay, locking tightly to phrasing, drops, and breakdowns. The result was a cleaner visual language and fewer compromises between lighting, lasers, and screen content.
HERE (Outernet) is an unforgiving space if timing drifts or content feels disconnected. The advantage of a timecoded approach in a venue like this is reliability: every cue landed where it was meant to, and the room responded accordingly. From doors to close, the energy stayed consistent, with the production reinforcing the music rather than competing with it.
The show sold out, and the crowd reflected that focus. No distractions, no excess. Just a packed room, a well-paced set, and a production setup that did exactly what it was designed to do.
This was a good example of how disciplined technical planning, when aligned with an artist’s intent, can elevate a club show without overcomplicating it.
Huge thanks to Visual Zuu, Jake Kleinman (Redlight Management), Ed (Friction) and the superb team at OuterNet (shoutout to Matt, Charles & Sidharth) for hosting an unforgettable night.
